Emma was tired of the same Saturday night routine: a quiet dinner, a late‑night movie, and a quick trip home. When her friend Sarah suggested a pub crawl in Camden, Emma agreed. By midnight, Emma had tasted three craft ales, sampled a classic British porter, and even met a local street performer. That single night sparked a habit—one that turned her weekends into a living itinerary of London’s best pubs.
Why a Pub Crawl Beats a Single Night Out
Choosing a pub crawl over a single venue offers a curated experience. You visit at least three pubs in one evening, usually within a 20‑minute walk of each other. That means you can compare styles, price points, and atmospheres without spending a fortune. A typical crawl costs between £15 and £25 per person, including a pint at each stop, so you’re not breaking the bank.
Another advantage is the social element. A group of four or five friends can split a bar tab, making the total per person even lower. It also encourages trying drinks you might otherwise skip—like a local micro‑brew or a rare gin.
The Top Three Crawls to Try on a Friday Night

- Third stop: The Fox and Hounds – a hidden gem known for its homemade pies. A pint of their local IPA is £4.25.
Walking this route takes about 15 minutes between pubs, and the whole crawl finishes before 2 a.m. with a total spend of roughly £14 per person.
2. Soho & Covent Garden Crawl

- Third stop: The Old Vic – a historic theatre pub that offers a nightly comedy show. Their house beer is £4.50.
With a total price of £14.25, this crawl is a bit pricier but worth it for the scenic backdrop and the chance to see a live performance.
Planning Your Crawl: Timing, Transport, and Safety
Start no earlier than 8 p.m. to avoid rush hour traffic and to catch the early evening crowd. If you’re traveling from the city centre, the Tube’s Northern Line will drop you near Camden, while the Central Line serves Soho. For the South Bank route, the Jubilee Line stops right next to the Thames. Always keep an eye on your personal belongings; most pubs in these areas have good CCTV coverage, but it’s wise to stay alert.
Set a budget before you go. If you’re on a tight budget, look for pubs that offer a “pint of the day” at a lower price. Many venues run a special on Wednesdays, but most crawls are best on weekends.
